The last three months of the year 2023 are crucial for the Indian film industry. Several movies are aligned to release in the upcoming months, but December 2023 awaits one of the biggest clashes at the box office with the release of three magnum opus films. Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Dunki' will grace the theatres on December 22, and the same is the release date for Prabhas’ 'Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire'. But, do you know these two big-budget movies are all set to clash with Jason Momoa, Amber Heard-starrer 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom'?

December 2023 Awaits The Biggest Box Office Clash

'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' is scheduled to hit the theatres on December 21, this year. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “There were murmurs that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will bow out and would either release a week before or a week after December 22 in India. However, that’s not happening. Releasing on December 15 would mean India being the first country to release the superhero film in the world. It can lead to piracy before the film opens in the crucial market in North America. If Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled to hit screens on December 29, it can disappoint fans. Hence, a decision was taken to arrive on December 21, notwithstanding the recent developments.”

It is pertinent to note that ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ belongs to a significant franchise, and its lead actor, Jason Momoa, enjoys considerable popularity. The initial installment, ‘Aquaman’ (2018), performed admirably, amassing a box office collection of Rs. 54.60 crores. According to the source, the sequel has the potential to replicate this success, benefiting from a five-day extended weekend in its first week and a four-day extended weekend in its second week. Furthermore, it could secure priority placement in IMAX and 4DX theaters, enhancing its prospects for success.

'Aquaman' found itself in close proximity to Bollywood heavyweight Shah Rukh Khan's "Zero" (2018) and Hombale Films' blockbuster ‘KGF - Chapter 1’ (2018) during its initial release. To be specific, ‘Aquaman’ graced the screens on December 14, 2018, while ‘Zero’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 1’ made their theatrical debuts on December 21 of the same year. Now, after five years, the stage is set for another epic cinematic clash. Momoa's aquatic adventure will once again cross paths with Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Dunki’ and Hombale Films' highly anticipated ‘Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire’. This collision of cinematic giants promises to be a monumental moment in the film industry, offering audiences an exhilarating clash of cinematic worlds.
