Border 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Sunny Deol’s much-anticipated war film Border 2 has made a powerful start at the Indian box office. Released in theatres on January 23, the film opened to packed cinemas across the country, especially ahead of the long Republic Day weekend. As a sequel to the iconic 1997 film Border, the movie carried high expectations and its Day 1 numbers suggest that audiences have turned up in large numbers.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 stars Sunny Deol alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film earned nearly Rs 30 crore net in India on its first day. The gross collection is reported to be around Rs 35 crore. With these numbers, Border 2 has secured a place among Bollywood’s top 30 highest opening-day films of all time. The film has also managed to beat the opening-day collections of recent releases like Dhurandhar and Saiyaara, indicating strong audience interest despite mixed reviews.
Advance booking played a major role in Border 2’s impressive opening. Ahead of its release, the film recorded advance sales of around Rs 12.5 crore across India. More than 4.09 lakh tickets were sold from over 16,000 shows nationwide. Including block bookings, the advance figures reportedly touched Rs 17.5 crore. The Hindi 2D version contributed the largest share, while premium formats such as IMAX 2D, 4DX and Dolby Cinema added to the numbers. In terms of theatre occupancy, Border 2 recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 32.10% on Day 1. Morning shows began on a slower note at 19.46%, but footfalls increased steadily as the day progressed. Afternoon shows registered 26.33% occupancy, evening shows rose to 34.55%, and night shows peaked at an impressive 48.06%.

Set against the backdrop of the 1971 India–Pakistan war, Border 2 brings together a large ensemble cast. Alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, the film also stars Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana and Anya Singh in key roles.The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J. P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series Films and J. P. Films.
