Bougainvillea Twitter Review: The Malayalam crime thriller written and directed by Amal Neerad, who co-wrote the screenplay with Lajo Jose, stars Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil and Jyothirmayi in leading roles, alongside supporting performances from Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar and Srinda. About Bougainvillea
The cast of Bougainvillea features Kunchacko Boban as Dr. Royce Thomas, Fahadh Faasil as ACP David Koshy IPS, and Jyothirmayi as Reethu Thomas. Supporting roles are played by Sharaf U Dheen as Biju, Veena Nandakumar as Meera, Srinda as Rema, and Jinu Joseph. The principal photography for Bougainvillea began in September 2023 and continued until April 2024, conducted in secrecy. The film's music is composed by Sushin Shyam, with cinematography by Anend C. Chandran and editing by Vivek Harshan.
Initially rumoured to be an adaptation of Lajo Jose's 2019 novel Ruthinte Lokam, Lajo has clarified in a social media post that the film tells an entirely original story. A controversy has arisen surrounding a promotional song titled 'Sthuthi.' A formal complaint has been lodged with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification by Tony Chittilappilly, Secretary of the Syro-Malabar Sabha Almaya. The complaint alleges that the song distorts Christian beliefs and is offensive to the community.
