BTS Chart Manipulation Controversy: The Kpop world has been abuzz with controversy surrounding BTS, one of the most beloved and successful boy groups, after allegations of "chart manipulation" resurfaced in online communities. The controversy stems from a past legal dispute between BIGHIT MUSIC, the management company behind BTS, and an individual known as "Mr. A".
Although BIGHIT MUSIC has vehemently denied all accusations, a recent report by Kyunghyang has shed new light on the incident, revealing that both the judiciary and investigative authorities have explicitly referred to the incident as a clear case of "chart manipulation", "illegal marketing", and "sajaegi marketing". This startling revelation has sparked widespread debate and discussion among fans, critics, and industry insiders, raising important questions about the integrity of the Kpop industry and the practices employed by management companies to promote their artists.
A recent online post has sparked intense scrutiny and debate within the Kpop community, as a netizen claiming to possess insider knowledge regarding BTS's alleged involvement in chart manipulation shared what appears to be incriminating evidence.
According to Koreaboo, a netizen claimed, “First, I apologize for the article and comments I wrote without much thought earlier this morning. After much fear and debate, I decided to post this message. I apologize once again for going back and forth while writing while relying on alcohol. I will briefly summarize the facts.”
“I am well aware of the internal affairs regarding BTS’s chart manipulation. I recently felt anger at the attitude of the impeachment controversy and the ruling party’s response. Additionally, suspicions of chart manipulation by HYBE were raised again this past April. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency stated they would begin an investigation, but it was not carried out. I cannot remain silent, so I am gathering the courage to write this,” claimed another netizen.
Furthermore, the netizen presented additional evidence to substantiate their claims, sharing a archived post from the Ilbe site dating back to 2017. This post purportedly exposed a KakaoTalk conversation between CEO Lee and a Big Hit Official, which allegedly implicated the company in questionable activities related to chart manipulation.
