BTS Jin Birthday: BTS' eldest member Jin turned a year older today and his fans around the world are celebrating this special day in a grand manner. The singer is currently serving in the military and will return in 2024. It is a bittersweet feeling for BTS ARMY as fans are missing their favourite Kpop idol. Before joining the military, Jin made his debut as a solo artist with his single 'The Astronaut' and collaborated with the British rock band 'Coldplay'. It was his goodbye gift to the BTS ARMY ahead of his military enlistment.
BTS And Coldplay's My Universe:
For the unversed, Coldplay and BTS decided to collaborate for their single 'My Universe', which became a chartbuster worldwide. Talking about teaming up with BTS, Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin said, "About 18 months ago, I got a message from somebody. They said, ‘BTS want to do a song with you. And I said, ‘How would that work?’ I didn’t understand how that could be possible.”
He added, "My friend said the phrase ‘my universe’ one day and I wrote down ‘my universe’ — I thought that’s a cool title. Then I took it to my friend and said, ‘OK, let’s do this demo for BTS'". Martin went on to travel to South Korea to meet BTS and called the group 'king of stadium tour' and 'a role model'.
The song won several awards including Melon Music Awards 2021MTV Video Music Awards Japan, NRJ Music Awards, Planeta Awards, Japan Gold Disc Awards, Joox Malaysia Music Awards, MTV Millennial Awards and Nickelodeon Mexico Kids' Choice Awards, among others.
How Jin Made His Epic Solo Debut With Coldplay:
Jin surprised his fans at BTS' Yet to Come in Busan free concert by announcing his first solo project but his collaboration with Coldplay was announced later by BTS' agency BigHit Music. The song 'The Astronaut' is about Jin's love for his fans and was released before Jin's military enlistment.

While working on 'My Universe' with Coldplay, Jin developed a good friendship with the British band members. Jin later joined Coldplay at their concert in Argentina and performed to 'The Astronaut'. At the concert, Chris Martin revealed that the BTS member contacted him six months ago before his military enlistment and wanted a song that says goodbye to everybody for a little while.
'The Astronaut' is co-written by Coldplay, Jin and Kygo and produced by Kygo and Bill Rahko.
