BTS’ Jungkook’s solo debut song ‘SEVEN’ won hearts of the audience with its release and now also the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards under the category of ‘Song of the Summer.’ The song was nominated under several other singles from renowned artists, however, Jungkook became the first Korean solo artist to bag the award. Making his solo debut in July 2023, this year the VMAs saw a wave of several first wins from the Korean music industry marking their imprint across the globe.

The song was released in two different versions i.e. an explicit and a clean version. The explicit version however gained more popularity and was nominated in competition with ‘Rush’ by Troye Sivan, ‘Do It Like That’ by TXT, and ‘Cupid’ by Fifty Fifty’, and The Jonas Brothers song. In the end the game narrowed down to the joint single ‘Do It Like That’ between TXT and The Jonas Brothers, with ‘SEVEN’ by Jungkook taking home the trophy.
