BTS RM has recently shared exciting news with his fans: he has been promoted to Corporal in the military. RM, whose real name is Kim Namjoon, currently serves in the army and took to Instagram to announce his promotion. He posted a screenshot of his military application confirming his new rank, much to the delight of ARMYs (BTS official fandom), who celebrated his achievement with pride and excitement. BTS RM also took to Instagram and shared photos with his military friends as he performed at the Hwacheon Tomato Festival on August 1, 2024.

Earlier on August 1, RM was spotted preparing for a performance with his unit at the Hwacheon Tomato Festival. The BTS leader was seen rehearsing with his army band, showcasing his commitment to his duties even while in service. This performance is just one of the many ways RM continues to engage with his fans and share his experiences.

Kim Namjoon enlisted as an active duty soldier on December 11, 2023, alongside his bandmate V. He serves in the Special Task Force of the Capital Defence Command, a prestigious unit within the South Korean military. His promotion to Corporal marks a significant milestone in his service.

RM’s interaction with fans on Weverse (HYBE’s online platform for artist-fan interactions) has also been a source of joy for many. He recently responded to a fan, noting that he has achieved a weight of 75 kg but plans to lose it once he is discharged. He also shared that the first thing he would do after being discharged is to scream out loud and promised to share anecdotes from his service.

Known for his sensational rapping and leadership, RM has had a successful solo career alongside his work with BTS. He released his first solo mixtape, eponymously titled, on March 20, 2015, featuring 11 songs. He followed this with his second mixtape, Mono, which peaked at number 26 on the Billboard 200 chart. RM’s debut studio album, Indigo, was released on December 2, 2022, followed by his second album, Right Place, Wrong Person, on May 24, 2024.
