BTS V aka Kim Taehyung, who will be celebrating his 28th birthday on December 30, shaved his head ahead of military enlistment. He is scheduled to commence his duty in December 2023, a development that has left his global fanbase saddened. Reportedly, he will join the Special Duty Team, an anti-terrorism unit operating under the Blue House's direct jurisdiction. Following the reports, the BTS ARMY has expressed worries about V's well-being.

Taking to his Instagram, V shared the photo of his shaved head ahead of joining the national duty. Sharing another picture he said, “(This) was my dream (to wear) sunglasses with a shaved head. I wanted to do it someday, turned out well.” 

V posted a series of photos featuring a cake, expressing, "I'll go and come back!" The last image captured him wearing sunglasses on his head, holding a golden cake, standing against an illuminated wall.

Before this, BTS member Jungkook shared a glimpse of his buzz-cut hairstyle during a live session on Weverse. He engaged with fans after completing a workout, also addressing the issue of 'sasaengs'—obsessive fans known for intruding into celebrities' privacy in South Korea. While walking, Jungkook reportedly said, "Even nowadays there are sasaengs in front of my house. That's enough coming you b******s. Don't cross the line, you creep." He also said, as per X user @BTStranslation_, "Ah I'm tired. I can't work out more. My stamina has dropped a lot."

As many of his fans on Weverse requested him to show his shaved head, the Kpop singer initially declined, mentioning that photos might emerge when he departs, he eventually shared glimpses of his cut. He said, "You want me to show my hair? Well, I guess photos will come out when I go. What's the point of uploading (separately)? I won't show my hair. Later later.. at least one day before I go. What's the point of showing now, there's a few days left.. don't you think?" When a fan said, "Jungkook with no hair is handsome", he replied, "You mean to say I'm handsome even without hair? I don't think." Later, he quickly gave a few glimpses of his shaved head.

Meanwhile, the announcement from BigHit Music indicated that the enlistments for BTS members Jungkook, RM, Jimin, and V are imminent, but specific starting dates weren't disclosed. However, according to reports in South Korean media, RM and V are expected to commence their military duties on December 11, followed by Jimin and Jungkook on December 12.
