Coldplay's Chris Martin in a recent interview opened up about the enchanting collaboration with BTS on their hit song My Universe. He described the experience as “the most uplifting, natural collaboration,” expressing his admiration for the members of BTS: “I would do anything for those guys at any time. They were so good. They made the song so great.”

Martin recalled an amusing moment during the recording process when he attempted to sing a bit of Korean. “A bit embarrassingly, I tried to sing fake Korean in the break in the pre-chorus,” he shared. “I hope no one ever hears, because A, it’s probably wrong to do that on some level, and B, it sounded ridiculous.” However, he quickly reached out to RM from BTS for assistance, saying, “Here’s how it goes.” RM reassured him, “No problem,” leading to BTS writing their lyrics and adding ad-libs to the track.

The collaboration process was initially filled with nerves as both groups were getting to know each other. Martin reflected, “At first, everyone was really nervous of each other, like, ‘What is this?’ And there are cameras everywhere in their world. But by the end, it was like, oh, this was always meant to be.” He humorously noted, “Now we’re a boy band of seven really good-looking young Koreans and one old white guy, and it’s totally fine.” This lighthearted take on their dynamic highlights the camaraderie that developed throughout the collaboration.
