The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most renowned global film festivals across the world where every year hundreds of celebrities mark their impact by wearing a plethora of designs and showcasing their grace on the red carpet.

Over the years, many Indian celebrities have been making their fashionable impact on the red carpet with the gratefulness of Indian saree on the red carpet. From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, many have donned saree at the event and have walked gracefully on the international carpet looking stunning in traditional attires.

Donned in royalty, let's take a look at some of the Bollywood divas wearing saree on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival.

Deepika Padukone:

Starting with Deepika Padukone, the actress wore an ivory and gold saree by Rohit Bal in 2010. Accessorizing the look with complimentary jewelry on the go, she came a long way as a jury member by reflecting her personality via her outfits. The actress then opted for a Sabyasachi saree with black and gold stripes from the Bengal Tiger couture honoring the traditional Indian crafts.

She also wore a stunning Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla culture at the closing ceremony with a stunning showpiece collar on the saree which has around 1200 pearls and 200 crystals to go.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan:

Walking on the red carpet since 2002, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore a golden Neeta Lulla saree, looking like a ray of sunlight. The saree had gold embellishments as she made her debut with Shah Rukh Khan in her film 'Devdas.'

In 2019, she walked the red carpet in a Sabyasachi couture with an ornate gold border saree with her husband Abhishek Bachchan where she complemented the look with a sleeveless blouse.

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja:

Sonam Kapoor is known as the powerhouse of fashion in Bollywood where she donned in a stylish metallic blue saree with a black blouse at the Cannes Film Festival and has since then skilled at conveying a message via her sartorial choices. Her red carpet saree look was designed by Rimzim Dadu and was an ideal inspiration for many. She also appeared in an ivory look dhoti-saree with heavy beaded necklace by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.

Vidya Balan:

The 'Kahani' actress wore a Sabyasachi saree at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival as she walked the red carpet and nailed her walk despite receiving backlash from the internet calling her being too safe with her style. She obtained the classic style of royal jewelry and draped the saree in a different manner showing her passion for couture.

Many other Bollywood divas also have opted for a surreal saree look at the red carpet including Kangana Ranaut, Malaika Sherawat, and Rich Chadha.
