Chitrangada Singh is garnering praise for her performance in the political thriller Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, which was released on Netflix on March 20. She stars alongside Jeet, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee, and Ritwik Bhowmik. She portrays the role of opposition leader Nibedita Basak. Created by Neeraj Pandey, the series is a blend of true facts and fiction, which makes it an even more captivating narrative.
Chitrangada Singh shared her experience of working on the show Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, which stars Jeet, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and Saswata Chatterjee in lead roles. In an interview with Zoom, the actress said, "Well, it’s honestly been a while since I played a character like this. Nothing so interesting has come my way in a very long time. I really enjoyed it. I hadn’t played somebody giving speeches. I think I’ve always naturally gravitated toward characters like this. Such a well-written character, I don’t think I’ve had one offered to me in a very long time."
Revealing what intrigued her to play the role of Nibedita, Chitrangada stated, "I was very excited to play this woman, and the fact that she goes through ups and downs. And then she decides to be part of it. So the whole journey of her emotionally and professionally was very interesting for me to play."
She praised director Neeraj Pandey and the cast of Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. "I think Neeraj Pandey stands for somebody who... I mean, I'm not trying to give a pat on our backs or anything, but I feel like he really makes sure that every single person is cast so right. I mean, there’s so much talent. And the quality of talent—basically, anyone, from the smallest of the parts to the biggest of the parts—is just amazing. It’s probably one of the biggest ensembles or the best ensembles, if I may say, for a show on Netflix," Chitrangada added.
About Khakee: The Bengal Chapter
The show delves into the story of an honest IPS officer who takes charge and confronts powerful gangsters and corrupt politicians after the death of a respected officer in Bengal. He goes on a mission to bring law and order to the system and stop the unlawful activities happening around the country. Starring Jeet, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Chitrangada Singh, Saswata Chatterjee, Ritwik Bhowmik, and Aakanksha Singh in significant roles, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter is created by Neeraj Pandey and written by Samrat Chakraborty. The series has been getting positive responses from viewers since its digital premiere.
