Ponniyin Selvan 2 is one of the most anticipated second installments of filmmaker Mani Ratnam's dream project which is all set for its theatrical release in April 2023. The first part of the film was released in September 2022 and emerged to be one of the all-time highest-grossing Tamil films in history.
The film is based on legendary writer Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name and features Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and Sobhita Dhulipala in lead roles.
The makers of 'Ponniyin Selvan' released a special video of the film dedicated to 'Aditha Karikalan' who is the role played by Chiyaan Vikram. In the released video, costume designer Eka Lakhani along with his team of artists was seen creating Karikalan aka Vikram's look for Mani Ratnam's directorial.
From the army suit and ornaments of his character to his hairstyle, tons of effort were given to create his beloved character, where Chiyaan Vikram will be seen in the role of the Chola Crown Prince. His flawless voice modulation and impeccable acting skills were the highlight of the first installation.
Towards the end of the video, the makers of 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' revealed that the film will be released in April, and the official trailer of the film is on the way. Even though the official release date has not been yet revealed, the trailer will be released by the first week of April at a grand event that will be held in Chennai.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, filmmaker Mani Ratnam joined the music composer of the film with AR Rahman in London to record the final works for the film and will also soon reveal the second song of the project before the trailer and audio launch.
