Citadel: Plot
Eight years ago, Citadel, an independent global spy agency, was destroyed by a new syndicate, Manticore. With their memories wiped, elite agents Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) barely escaped with their lives, as mentioned in the synopsis.
Citadel: Cast
Priyanka Chopra (Nadia Sinh)
Richard Madden (Mason Kane)
Stanley Tucci (Bernard Orlick)
Lesley Manville (Dahlia Archer)
The web series starts with a train sequence which becomes the main highlight of Episode 1 of the espionage spy thriller, Citadel. The show centers on the lives of Nadia Sinh and Mason Kane, who are top spies for Citadel, an agency founded by a group of spies who are loyal to neither individuals nor states and committed to ensuring everyone's safety and security.
Priyanka Chopra, entering the train with that bold red cutout dress, scarlet red lips, and all that she carries with the finest elegance is too hot to handle ahead of the massive explosion. It is nearly breathtaking to witness Priyanka taking down the bad guys in that pretty red dress, it is indeed daring. We are in awe of how she uses her physical prowess to dispose of all the enemies of the world.
Although Nadia and Mason were successful in eliminating their opponents, they were powerless to halt the explosion that caused the speeding train to crash into the water. It will be intriguing to watch how the espionage couple will continue their game now that their memories have been erased.
Citadel: What Works?
The coolest thing about Citadel is that it isn't only centred on one industry; instead, this action-thriller web series has scope for actors from all around the world. Everything about the programme is intriguing, pulling you in from the action to the cinematography.

Citadel is able to clearly convey its main themes thanks to its suspenseful, thrilling, and dramatic opening. The Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, didn't restrict their thinking to make this spy drama an experience beyond imagination. If you're totally relying on the show's trailer, then that won't help because Citadel is a far lot more than what's shown in trailers. The makers have so far released the first two episodes of Citadel which will promisingly bring you to the edge of your seats.
Citadel: What Doesn't Work?
As the makers released only two episodes of the show we had been waiting for months, it may leave you a little disconnected. There is a difference between concluding an episode suspensefully and leaving open ends, and although the programme excels at the latter, it falls short on the former. Priyanka joining a restaurant and Mason running into that estranged family after the explosion need to be clarified, we expect the same in the upcoming episodes though.
Citadel: Cast Performance
Priyanka Chopra confidently opens doors for South Asian representation in Hollywood by adding her tone of glamour, action, and all that she can to bring out her best self in Citadel. Her, eliminating the assassiations altogether with that sheer confidence on her face is what we had craved for in the series. The PC power in Citadel overshadows show's cast. Priyanka beating the shit out of all her rivals in the John Wick style is impressive to watch.
Richard Madden as Mason is a satisfaction to sore eyes, but he couldn't match to what he had performed in the hit series Game Of Thrones. He underplays his character, but matches well with co-spy Priyanka.
Stanley Tucci's comic timing is perfect in the show. His portrayal of Bernard Orlick is too hard to ignore as he plays a major role in bringing Nadia and Mason together once again.
Another main character of the show is Lesley Manville, who plays Dahlia Archer, the broker for the oligarchy-styled Manticore. She is really remarkable for the discipline with which she portrays the brutal Dahlia.
Citadel: Final Verdict
Citadel does us proud. This spine-chilling web-series, created by Russo brothers, goes a notch higher with some never-seen-before action sequences by one and only, Priyanka Chopra. The execution and inclusion of all the scenes in the web series has a reason, which you'll get to know after watching the first two episodes of the season. From hard-hitting dialogues, action sequences to the intriguing plot, Citadel is a must-watch for all the obvious reasons.
The first two episodes of Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden-starrer are currently premiering on Amazon Prime Video.
