Comedian Sunil Pal, who was reported missing by his wife Sarita on Tuesday, has contacted his family, assuring them of his safety. The comedian, who had failed to return home after performing at a show outside Mumbai, left his family concerned when repeated attempts to reach him went unanswered. Sarita had filed a missing person complaint at the Santacruz Police Station.
Late Tuesday evening, Sunil got in touch with his family, informing them that he was safe and would return home either late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. According to a police official, since Sunil contacted his family, no formal complaint was registered. However, the police plan to question him about his whereabouts once he returns home. Sarita confirmed the development, saying, "I talked to Sunil. He also spoke with the police."
Sunil Pal rose to fame in 2005 when he won The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. His unique comedic style made him a household name, and he went on to play supporting roles in Bollywood films like Hum Tum (2004) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006).

In 2017, Sunil revealed financial struggles within the industry, claiming that filmmaker Anees Bazmee owed him payment for a performance. The comedian highlighted the difficulties faced by artists when dealing with delayed payments from producers.
Sunil also faced legal trouble in 2021 when he was booked by the Andheri police for allegedly making derogatory remarks about doctors managing COVID-19. The complaint was filed by the Association of Medical Consultants, representing thousands of doctors and hospitals. While his sudden disappearance caused concern, Sunil Pal’s communication with his family has brought relief.
