Corona Dhavan's OTT Premiere: Director Nithin CC's movie 'Corona Dhavan,' featuring Lukman Avaran, is preparing for its OTT debut. Written by Sujai Mohanraj, this comedy centres on the attempts of a group of drunkards to find alcohol during the Covid-19 pandemic. Sruthy Jayan, recognised for her roles in 'Angamaly Diaries' and 'Kurukkan,' assumes the female lead role in 'Corona Dhavan.' The cast also includes Sreenath Bhasi, Johny Antony, Irshad Ali, and Seema G Nair.
'Corona Dhavan' unfolds its story in a rustic setting, with Vinu (Lukman) securing and safeguarding a few bottles of liquor for his sister's wedding. However, when the wedding is called off due to the pandemic, Vinu becomes the sole supplier of alcohol for the villagers.
The movie draws inspiration from real-life incidents that transpired during the lockdown phase. It depicts the predicament of people dealing with alcohol dependency amid the pandemic, with a primary goal of providing entertainment rather than delving into the negative consequences of alcoholism.
'Corona Dhavan' is a comedy film that weaves together multiple subplots. It features excise officers trying to confiscate the stored alcohol, police officers who crave it, and Vinu's friends who appreciate a good drink. These elements converge in the film's climax, leading to uproarious chaos and non-stop laughter.
The film has received acclaim for outstanding performances from Lukman, Johny, and Sarath. 'Corona Dhavan,' along with 'Jo and Jo,' stands out as one of the few Malayalam films that humorously approach the subject of the pandemic's events. The streaming rights for 'Corona Dhavan' have been acquired by Saina Play, and the film is scheduled to be available on the platform later this month.
