The devastating Los Angeles wildfires have prompted Hollywood to delay its annual awards season. Following the postponement of the Oscars 2025 nomination dates, the Critics Choice Awards has also been rescheduled. On Thursday morning, event organizers confirmed the change and issued a statement, announcing that the awards will now take place on January 26.

The 30th annual Critics Choice Awards ceremony, originally set for January 12, has been moved to January 26 due to the catastrophic fires ravaging Southern California. The event will still be held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and will air live on E! and internationally. It will also be available on Peacock the following day.

Critics Choice Association CEO Joey Berlin stated that the ceremony, which honours the year’s best in film and television and is attended by A-list stars, would not take place on Sunday, January 12. “This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all who have been affected,” Berlin said, as quoted by Deadline.

The Critics Choice Awards is among the major events impacted by the wildfires. The live announcement of the SAG Awards nominations was also canceled and the annual BAFTA Tea Party, scheduled for January 11 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, has now been called off. Other events canceled this week include The Last Showgirl, Wolf Man and Better Man, among many others.

The fires, which began on Tuesday, January 7, broke out near the Pacific Palisades neighborhood on the west side of Los Angeles. The fires have severely damaged homes and forced thousands to evacuate. Later in the day, two more fires, the Eaton Fire near Pasadena and the Hurst Fire near the San Fernando Valley, erupted. As a result, California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency, according to a Variety report.
