Vijay Varma Plays Death Hoax: Vijay Varma's social media prank backfired, forcing him to apologise for a misleading post that temporarily led fans to believe he had died. The actor had shared a character obituary from his Netflix film Darlings to mark its second anniversary, causing momentary panic among his followers before they realised it was a joke.
Vijay Varma wrote on Instagram, “It’s been two years since your beloved hamza left for jannat ki sair. Miss u Hamza darlings… not.”
Fans soon took to the comments section and created panic. A fan commented, “Advertise karne ka tareeka thoda death full hai,” another one wrote, “Had to read that post twice to make sure of what I was reading,” a netizen wrote, “Plz don’t u ever never post such things may god bless u with long long life good health wealth and happiness for life,” others also dropped similar reactions.
Vijay Varma later clarified in the comments section, “Sorry guys didn’t mean to scare you. This is an actual screen grab from the film! Dark comedy banay thi toh post bhi.”
Darlings, a 2022 black comedy film, marks the directorial debut of Jasmeet K. Reen, who co-wrote the screenplay with Parveez Sheikh. Produced by Alia Bhatt, Gauri Khan, and Gaurav Verma under Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions, the film features an ensemble cast, including Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew in pivotal roles.
