India's global ambassador Deepika Padukone has been recently recognised as a disruptor for the class of movers & shakers 2024 by an international publication Deadline. She has been named alongside Eva Longoria, Uma Thurman, and Lee Sung Jin.
Highlighting her acting career in an interview with the same publication, the actress admitted that she had to delve into a new process in Hollywood as she had never given an audition before. She mentioned that the system of work is different in both industries. The superstar also stated that along with the success of movies and recognition of performances, a healthy work culture on the sets is equally important.
In a conversation with Deadline, Deepika said “About a decade ago, when I started my journey in the West auditioning, it was a really new process for me because I’d never had to audition. I wasn’t a trained actor, and I never went to a fancy acting school — everything that I’ve learned has been on the job.”
She also said, “The systems are so different between Hollywood and Bollywood. I think the world has become smaller, and the world has come together and it’s really about telling great stories. Whether it’s working in Sweden or Bosnia, it’s about telling interesting stories that resonate for an audience across the world.”
“Of course the success of a movie is important, and box office is important, and the awards and accolades are important, but for me as a person the time I’ve had with people and the experiences I have on the set are the most important,” she added.
