Ashish Kapoor Rape Case: Television actor Ashish Kapoor, who was arrested earlier this month after being accused of raping a woman at a house party in Delhi, has broken his silence following his release on bail. The Delhi court recently granted him bail, noting that there was nothing on record to suggest he had not cooperated with the investigation. On 2nd September, Kapoor was arrested in Pune, Maharashtra, where he had been staying. Following interrogation, he was remanded to judicial custody on 6 September. On 10 September, Additional Sessions Judge Bhupinder Singh granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and a surety of the same amount. The court considered CCTV footage, material on record, and submissions by counsel, concluding that Kapoor’s custody was no longer required for the investigation.

On Tuesday, 16 September, Kapoor took to Instagram to share his relief and gratitude. Posting a statement on his story, the actor wrote, “Following the recent incident, I’m filled with a deep sense of relief and gratitude. This experience has been a powerful reminder of the strength of our democracy and the principles enshrined in our constitution. I have full faith in the legal system, and this outcome has only strengthened that belief. The diligent work of everybody ensured that justice was served and the truth was brought to light.” He further added, “This is a testament that truth will always prevail. I want to thank everyone who supported me during this tough time and express my profound appreciation for a system that protects the rights of every citizen.”

Meanwhile, the incident allegedly took place in August at a party hosted in a Delhi residence. The complainant accused Kapoor of sexually assaulting her inside a washroom. According to her, the act was recorded, although investigators have not recovered any video evidence. CCTV footage and witness accounts, however, confirmed that both Kapoor and the complainant entered the washroom together and stayed inside for a long time. Other guests reportedly knocked on the door while they remained inside. Later, an argument broke out outside the house. The complainant alleged that the wife of Kapoor’s friend also assaulted her near the society gate. Police confirmed that it was the wife who eventually called the PCR (Police Control Room).
