Several users shared their views on X about the hint of Hera Pheri 3’s release. A user said, “Sir Pichli Baar Bhi Apne Aisa Hii Kuch Kaha tha... #HeraPhei3.” Another said, “When Hera Pheri released, that was the only time I bunked school and went to watch with my friends - while we enjoyed the movie but we had to walk around 20kms due to transport strike and also there was ‘Kutai’ at home for bunking the school on same day. What a days it was.” A tweet read, “are sir ye to bahut late h... next monsoon tak to Akshay kumar 4-5 hera pheri kr lete h... is baar itna time?”
Earlier in an interview with ETV Bharat, Priyadarshan said, “I plan to start work, start writing Hera Pheri 3 sometime next year. It is going to be very challenging to make the third part because there will be too many expectations. People are waiting to see Akshay, Paresh and Suniel again and we always say that it is easy to make people cry, it is easy to scare people but to make them laugh is very difficult and that too without using double entendre dialogues ..you have to make humour so pure and identifiable. Then, humor also changes, and the taste of the society changes. We have to catch up with that. Characters have gotten older and accordingly people should believe…these are important things. I am taking it as a challenge. Let's see how it works. Definitely some situations will be exaggerated and people should feel that this could happen. Once I put the pen to paper only then I would know. I have to really fight out the challenge and make a good script.”
The first part of Hera Pheri was released in 2000 and the second part, Phir Hera Pheri, hit the silver screens in 2006.
