Udit Narayan dominated the 1990s and contributed significantly to the success of numerous actors and movies with his enchanting voice. The National Award-winning singer, however, was heavily scrutinised for kissing a fan on the lips during his live performance.

For the unversed, a woman gives the singer a cheek kiss whilst taking a picture, and he kisses her on the lips in response. He was heavily criticised for the same after the video from the musical event went viral on social media. 

Udit Narayan's married life has not been as serene as his lyrics portray. With ups and downs, court cases, divorce and legal battles, it turns out that Udit Narayan has already been a target of controversy.

Udit Narayan's reputation among his supporters was destroyed years ago by his matrimonial scandal.

The singing sensation married a woman named Ranjana Jha in 1984. His marriage never made the news because he was not a well-known figure in Indian cinema. The singer left his first wife, Ranjana behind in order to relocate to Mumbai in search of greater possibilities as he was having trouble establishing himself in the field.

Udit Narayan met fellow vocalist Deepa Gahatraj in Mumbai, who was also attempting to make it in Bollywood. He married Deepa in 1985 without divorcing Ranjana after they fell in love. In 1987, the couple welcomed a child, whom they affectionately called Aditya Narayan.

 
Udit was staying at a hotel in Patna for one of his gigs when Ranjana came, and chaos ensued. Ranjana stormed into Udit Narayan's room with a few reporters and made their marriage public. Ranjana disclosed that she had been married to the musician for a long time, but he had cheated on her when the reporters continued their jokes.
 
Additionally, Ranjana stated to the press that Udit did not divorce her before to his marriage to Deepa. Udit denied Ranjana's allegations when questioned about them, claiming she was attempting to damage his reputation. Following Udit's remarks, Ranjana went to court and made grave charges against the musician.
 
When asked why she had remained silent for so long, she said, "Whenever I threatened to go public about our marriage, he silenced me with the threat of committing suicide. Now I have no fears and I will take legal recourse."
