Dil-Luminati Tour: Diljit Dosanjh performed in Indore on Sunday, a day after Bajrang Dal protested over the planned sale of meat and alcohol at the event. The Indore show did not serve meat or alcohol after Bajrang Dal staged protests on Saturday.
According to Yash Bachani, a member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), the Bajrang Dal raised concerns against serving alcohol and meat in the concert. He voiced worries over 'open liquor' and 'meat being served,' saying that these practices went against Indore's cultural traditions. As per the Hindustan Times report, Bachani also brought up concerns about women's safety and the possibility of 'Love Jihad.'
After the demonstrations died down, attendees quickly verified to the same media portal that Diljit Dosanjh's concert in Indore went off without a hitch and that neither meat nor alcohol was served.
Diljit Dosanjh REACTED To Bajrang Dal Demands?
While Diljit Dosanjh did not specifically address Bajrang Dal's demands and protests, he did recite a portion of veteran lyricist Rahat Indori's popular song. He was heard reciting, "Agar Khilaf Hai Hone Do Jaan Thodi Hai, Yeh Sab Dhuaan Hai Koi Aasmaan Thodi Hai, Sab Ka Khoon Hai Shaamil Yahan Ki Mitti Mein, Kisi Ke Baap Ka Hindustaan Thodi Hai," during his Sunday show in Indore.
For the unversed, Diljit Dosanjh's Dil-Luminati concert stirred controversy in cities other than Indore. Following objections from locals and political leaders, the Pune state excise department had already revoked the license to serve alcohol at his Kothrud event.
In fact, the Telangana government prohibited Diljit Dosanjh from performing some songs that made reference to alcohol during a Dil-Luminati performance in Hyderabad. Diljit, however, was unconcerned by the restrictions and cleverly got around the problem by substituting allusions to alcohol with "softer" substitutes like Coca-Cola.
