The countdown for the Tamil action thriller movie Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna, has began. The film is slated to be released in theatres on August 14, 2025. Coolie is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The film has been made on a budget of Rs 280 to 400 crore. As it is one of the biggest movies of the year, which features a mega star Rajinikanth, do you know how much the actor has charged for doing the film? Here is what we know. 

Rajinikanth’s Salary For Coolie

The actor has been working in the industry for five decades. The veteran actor made his acting debut with the Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal in 1975. Since then, there is no looking back for the superstar. Over the decades, he has not gained popularity but has been worshipped by his fans. His movies not only become blockbusters but also make a place in the hearts of the audience. In the past few years, the actor has been charging hefty amounts for doing movies. As reported by Republic World, Rajinikanth earned Rs 125 crore for his 2024 film Vettaiyan. According to Forbes India, he charges between Rs 125 to 270 crore per film. But in Coolie, Rajinikanth remuneration hiked with a massive amount as he charged Rs  260 to 280 crore for the film, as per a report by Reublic world. According to another report by The Hindustan Times, Rajinikanth’s wealth is around Rs 500 crore in 2025.

About Coolie

The plot delves into a man’s relentless quest for revenge since his youth, which shapes his very existence. He faces a tumultuous vendetta journey. The movie stars Rajinikanth as Deva, Nagarjuna as Simon, Upendra as Kaleesha, Soubin Shahir as Dayal, Sathyaraj as Rajasekar and Shruti Haasan as Preethi. Coolie has been written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film has been produced by Kalanithi Maran. Girish Gangadharan has done the cinematography of the film. The makers of the film began the countdown of Coolie with an intriguing video, “Arangam Adhirattume, Whistle Parakkattume! #CoolieIn100Days #Coolie worldwide from August 14th.”
