Dream Girl Box Office collection: Ayushmann-starrer rakes Rs 10 crore on opening day, becomes biggest opener of his career

New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana is celebrating his 35^th birthday today and his fans have already gifted him his birthday present. Ayushmann’s latest release Dream Girl has minted over 10 crores on its first day, which is the highest opening film of his career.

Helmed by Raj Shandilya, the film portrays Ayushman Khurana in the role of an unemployed young man who gets a job in a call center but adding to his misery, in the call center he has to talk in the voice of a woman with his callers.

However, the difficulty comes when the people become crazy about this fictional woman, Pooja, just by listening to the voice, including Ayushmann Khurrana's father played by Annu Kapoor, with whom Ayushmann debuted in Vicky Donor.

The film has been rated well by almost all the critics. According to trade experts, Dream Girl has taken an opening of 10.05 crore, which is also the biggest opening in mid-budget films in 2019. For example, Uri - The Surgical Strike opened with Rs 8.20 crores, Luka Chuppi Rs 8.01 crores and Chichhore Rs 7.32 crores.

Now if we talk about Ayushmann's record, then this is the best opening of his career. National Film Award winner Ayushmann's last 5 films opening has been between 2 to 8 crore.

Andhadhun - Rs 2.70 crore

Shubh Mangal Savdhan - Rs 2.71 Crore

Bareilly ki Barfi - Rs 2.42 Crore

Ayushmann Khurrana has surprised the audience with his choice of films in the recent past. In films like Bareilly ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Savdhan, Badhaai Ho, Andhadhun and Article 15, he played different characters, which people gave a lot of love, and also had an impact on the box office. Now if Dream Girl continued its successful run, then Ayushmann will join the pack of artists giving 6 consecutive hits at the box office.

Dream Girl is likely to get a tough fight with Chhichhore in the first week, as this film by Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor is moving towards better business due to mouth publicity.
