Drishyam 3 Postponed: The release of one of the most celebrated crime thriller franchise has been slightly postponed. Fans of the legendary actor Mohanlal will have to wait a little longer to see the return of the mastermind Georgekutty, as the makers of Drishyam 3 have officially changed the film’s theatrical debut. Originally scheduled for a worldwide release on April 2, 2026, the third instalment of the hit Malayalam franchise will now hit cinemas on May 21, 2026.

Drishyam 3 movie's production house, Aashirvad Cinemas, broke the news on social media alongside a chilling new poster. The announcement read, "The past never stays silent…it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21st 2026." Mohanlal himself amplified the excitement by sharing the update on his X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming that the past is finally catching up with his iconic character.

Why Was Drishyam 3 Postponed?

While the director, Jeethu Joseph, and producer Antony Perumbavoor have not issued a formal statement regarding the reason for the delay, industry insiders suggest geopolitical factors are at play. Reports indicate that the current tensions and conflict in the Middle East have disrupted the planned global rollout. This follows a similar trend in the industry, as other major productions, such as Yash’s Toxic, have also faced recent scheduling shifts.

What To Expect From Drishyam 3?

Drishyam 3 is expected to be the definitive conclusion to the saga that began in 2013. The story follows Georgekutty, a humble cable TV operator who committed an ingenious crime to protect his family and has spent years outsmarting the police. Joining Mohanlal are Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil as his family, alongside Siddique and Asha Sharath. Notably, Murali Gopy will return as IG Thomas Bastin.

The Drishyam brand has become a global phenomenon, with the original Malayalam film being remade in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Mandarin, and even Korean. While the Malayalam version arrives in May, the Hindi remake starring Ajay Devgn is currently slated for a October 2 release.
