Kaantha Release Update: Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kaantha, a Tamil horror thriller, has been one of the highly anticipated movies. Originally slated for theatrical release on September 12, the film has now been postponed. This decision comes in after 'resounding' success of Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer Lokah, which is backed by Dulquer under his production banner. The makers of Kaantha have announced the postponement through an official statement, mentioning that a new release date will be announced soon.

Dulquer Salmaan's Kaantha Delayed

On Thursday, the makers of Kaantha announced the postponement of film's release and issued a statement on Instagram that read, “To our incredible audience, We’ve been truly moved by the love and support you’ve shown since the release of our teaser. With the resounding success of Lokah, we want Chandra’s rampage in the box office to keep soaring. We are putting together something equally special to take you on another incredible cinematic journey."

Regarding the new release date, the makers added, “Hence, we’ve pushed the release date of Kaantha and will be announcing the new release date soon. Until then, thank you once again for standing by us. We can’t wait to see you at the cinemas soon."

Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, Kaantha is a period drama and a horror thriller, starring Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse. Set in 1950s Madras, the film revolves around a legendary director, MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar. It follows his personal struggles and his journey to becoming the first superstar of Tamil cinema. In addition to the storyline, the film has generated buzz for the collaboration between Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media and Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films for this project, aiming to blend traditional and modern storytelling styles.
