Dunki vs Salaar: Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming most-anticipated movie Dunki is all set to hit the theatres on December 21, 2023. The movie will clash with Prabhas-starrer Salaar, which will release on December 22. Trade expert Sameer Dixit from Mumbai said that ‘Dunki’ will have better traction than ‘Salaar’. He mentioned that SRK’s movie has the capability to surpass the second in terms of earnings.

Sameer said, “One thing is very clear, Dunki is one step ahead of Salaar.  There are a couple of reasons. If you talk practically, the Bollywood industry works from the last hit. Jawan did an excellent business at the box office. So, the theatres are very much excited about Dunki because there is Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani.”

“Both have a huge fan following and have given non-stop hits. Undoubtedly, there is an edge of Dunki above Salaar. Secondly, the trailer and teaser of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer have been received well, especially in our trade circuit, they liked it and are keen to go for Dunki,” he further added.

Possible 'Ugly Fights' Between SRK And Prabhas' Fans?

Amid anticipation surrounding the two movies, fans have been vouching over their favourite one since day 1. However, Salaar producer Vijay Kirgandur of Hombale Films earlier opened up about the possible “ugly fights” between the Prabhas starrer and 'Dunki' over screens. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama.com, Vijay Kirgandur said, “We don’t want things to be ugly. We are already having meetings with the exhibitors and distributors. When we have a solo release, the occupancy generally will be around 60-70 percent. Some screens will go to Aquaman but between Salaar and Dunki, we hope to get 50-50 screens in the best scenario. In such a scenario, if an occupancy of 90-100 percent is achieved, it’ll be a good result for both films.”

“Even if we get more screens, the occupancy will anyway go down to 60 percent or 70 percent. What we are planning is that we should get more occupancy, even if we get fewer screens than what we would have got if Salaar was a solo release. Even Overseas, these discussions are going on. Programming is the key now and that’s what we are focusing on, without getting into ugly fights,” he further added.
