Deepika Padukone is considered as one of the most-versatile actresses in the Indian movie industry. Her on-screen chemistry with her co-stars, especially with Ranbir Kapoor, is cherished by fans and followers. The duo have worked together in movies like Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) and Tamasha (2015). But, did you know, Deepika was the first choice for Rockstar? According to Hindustan Times, Imtiaz Ali, in his blog, had revealed, “She got off the car at the hotel porch and looked at me. I immediately knew that this is the girl I have come to meet. She also immediately knew that I was the director she had come to meet because she had those eyes that looked as if they knew.”

“None of Deepika's movies had been released till then. I had come to meet her for Rockstar. I wanted her for Rockstar, but the movie did not get made till many years later. I worked with her in other movies. Many things happened over many years at many places, all of which I might forget, but I will never forget the girl who stepped out of the car at the hotel and looked at me as if she knew,” said the filmmaker.

About Rockstar: Rockstar hit the theatres on November 11, 2011. The movie was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 600 million and it grossed Rs 1.08 billion worldwide, becoming highest grossing movies of the year. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakri in lead roles and received positive reviews upon its release.

For the unversed, Deepika has collaborated with Imtiaz Ali in blockbuster films, including Love Aaj Kal (2009) and Tamasha (2015). The duo have also collaborated on Deepika's breakout film, Cocktail (2012).
