Hailing from Bihar, Manoj Bajpayee exemplifies an outsider's success story in Bollywood, achieving stardom through decades of relentless hard work, marked by both blockbuster hits and crushing failures, fueled by his unwavering determination. In his career, one film that gained him recognition was the 1998 film Satya. For which he won a National Award as Best Supporting Actor for performance in the movie. But do you know he signed the film Satya for just Re 1? Yes, you read that right. Recently, filmmaker Hansal Mehta shared the details about the movie, especially the cast and their interesting signing amounts.

Hansal Mehta's recent interview shared an interesting anecdote about Manoj Bajpayee which has left fans shocked. Talking about the cult classic film Satya, Mehta in a conversation with Pinkvilla said, "I gave Manoj a signing amount of Rs 1 for that film; after drinking a lot of alcohol, I gave it to him. I also gave Anurag Kashyap Rs 1, but I didn’t give anything to Saurabh, and ultimately, Saurabh wrote it. Anurag was supposed to be part of the writing, but he didn’t; he got busy with Satya by then."

A critically acclaimed film Satya was directed by Ram Gopal Varma and tells a captivating story of an immigrant who comes to Mumbai and gets involved in the Mumbai underworld. Bajpayee’s portrayal of Bhiku Mhatre won him praise and awards and became a turning point in his career. Satya not only gave him recognition but also to Ram Gopal Varma, Anurag Kashyap, and Saurabh Shukla, who carved their niche since then in the film industry.

The movie also stars Shefali Shah, J D Chakravarthy and Urmila Matondkar. Besides its storyline and dialogues, the film is also known for its hit songs like Goli Maar and Sapne Mein Milti Hai.

 

After iconic movies, Satya, Kaun and Shool, Manoj Bajpayee and Ram Gopal Varma are reuniting for horror-comedy Police Station Mein Bhoot. Ever since the announcement, fans have been eagerly waiting for this collaboration and to witness an interesting narrative and performance.

Meanwhile, Manoj Bajpayee is gearing up for an upcoming season of Raj and DK’s highly anticipated show The Family Man.
