'Oppenheimer' and 'Barbie' were one of the most anticipated movies of 2023 and they have finally been released in theatres. Fans have coined the term 'Barbenheimer' to show their support for both films as it is one of the most epic box office clashes in cinema. 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' have completely different genres and have a talented ensemble star cast. But do you know both the film has one thing in common? 'Barbie' star Margot Robbie and 'Oppenheimer' star Cillian Murphy played iconic 'Batman' villains in different films.

Cillian Murphy As Scarecrow:

Cillian Murphy played the role of Dr Jonathan Crane aka Scarecrow in the 2005 film 'Batman Begins'. The movie is also helmed by 'Oppenheimer' director Christopher Nolan. Scarecrow is a corrupt psychopharmacologist working as Chief Administrator of Arkham Asylum. He is a specialist in the psychology of fear who secretly creates a fear-inducing toxin and plots with Ra's al Ghul to expose the entire Gotham population.

He later reprised his role of Scarecrow in 'The Dark Knight' and 'The Dark Knight Returns' but only had a cameo role.

In an interview with EW, Christopher Nolan revealed how he roped in Cillian Murphy to play Scarecrow. He said, "We did two scenes — there was a Bruce Wayne scene and a Batman scene — and I made sure that executives came down and watched what you were doing on set. Everybody was so excited by watching you perform that when I then said to them, ‘Okay, Christian Bale is Batman, but what about Cillian to play Scarecrow?’ there was no dissent."

He added, "All the previous Batman villains had been played by huge movie stars: Jack Nicholson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Carrey, that kind of thing. That was a big leap for them and it really was purely on the basis of that test. So that’s how you got to play Scarecrow.”

Margot Robbie As Harley Quinn:

Margot Robbie was first seen as Harley Quinn in the 2016 film 'Suicide Squad'. She then reprised her role in 'Birds Of Prey' and 'The Suicide Squad'. Harley Quinn is a former psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, who gets seduced by the Joker into becoming his crazed partner-in-crime. She falls in love with Joker and starts to terrorize Gotham City with him. Margot Robbie perfectly portrays the craziness of Harley Quinn who is in a dysfunctional and manipulative relationship with Joker.

In an interview with Collider, Margot Robbie talked about how she got into the get-up of Harley Quinn and what she loves and hates about her costume. She said, "Funnily enough the things that I love the most go very much hand in hand with the things I hate the most, as well, because it looks so amazing when your skin's completely white and you've got tattoos and the wig's crazy, and it takes three hours to do."

She added, "So I hate that I have to...but having said that, without all that hair and makeup, I wouldn't feel like the character at all. When I am all done up I don't look anything like myself, and I start behaving very differently, and it kinda does a lot of the work for you, I guess, with the whole getting into character side of things."
