Fardeen Khan is all set to make a comeback in Bollywood after a break of 14 years in the much-anticipated web series 'Heeramandi. The show has created a lot of excitement among the fans due to its amazing visuals, intriguing concept and stellar cast. In a recent interview, Fardeen revealed how he bagged his role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi'.

While speaking to News18, Fardeen said, "I was spotted at an award function by Shruti Mahajan, who has closely worked with Mr Bhansali over the years. I don’t know whether she was there or she saw me on television, but she thought that I would suit the character of Wali. She called me when I got back from Abu Dhabi. She told me that she would want me to meet Mr Bhansali and his team. And since I was away from the movies for so long, they just wanted to see if I really suited the part."

He (Bhansali) wasn’t there during my look test. My pictures were sent to him and then I got a call from him. He said, ‘Congratulations, you’re Wali Mohammad!’ It was exciting and nerve-wracking as I hadn’t been on a set for a long time,” he added.

'Heeramandi' stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal in the lead roles.

Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Sanjay Leela Bhansali talked about making his OTT debut and said, "I make big films and that comes naturally to me. But when I came to OTT I made something bigger, it's my biggest project yet. So I didn't have to adapt to the digital medium, this will be like watching a film."

He added, "So there is no holding back or trying to do something different for OTT. I made 8 episodes for this, and it's so demanding, I am constantly working on the script. You have to spend more hours watching films than you do films but all of us are enjoying it a lot. This one is very special. My dear Moin Baig came up with this idea 14 years back, but finally, it has gotten made. I don't make films with my mind but with my heart. Heera Mandi has a very special place."

On the work front, Sanjay Leela Bhansali will team up with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal for an epic saga 'Love & War'.
