The popular Pakistani movie The Legend of Maula Jatt faced a severe problem in India as it has been halted for release. Starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan in the lead roles, the film’s release in India was opposed by several political parties including Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The 2022 movie was praised by the audience and critics in Pakistan. It grossed Rs. 274.7 crore in Pakistan after the release.

About The Legend of Maula Jatt

It is a modern adaptation of the classic 1979 film Maula Jatt. The story focuses on a folk hero Maula Jatt (portrayed by Fawad Khan) who battles against arch-nemesis Noori Natt. It showcases honour, revenge, and cultural pride all at the same time. The movie stars Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malik, Gohar Rasheed, Shamoon Abbasi, Shafqat Cheema and Adnan Jaffar in prominent roles. The film has been directed by Bilal Lashari.

Now coming back to The Legend of Maula Jatt’s India release, the distributor of the film Nadeem Mandviwalla said that the Indian ministry has obtained a stay order from a court to hold the release of the movie. In an interview with PTI, he also shared “Unfortunately its release has once again been stalled and there is nothing anyone can do until the court gives its decision.”

But he hopes that if the movie hits the screens in India then it will win the hearts of the audience. He further added, “I am pretty sure given the quality and efforts put into the making of the film and its brilliant cast, Maula Jatt will be a big hit in Indian Punjab.”
