Fawad Khan, who is set to make his Bollywood comeback with Abir Gulaal, recently spoke about the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The Pakistani actor shared his deep condolences to the families of the victims, who lost their lives in the heinous attack. As per reports, the death toll has increased to 27, while several others have been injured. Notably, in the afternoon of April 22 (Tuesday), several tourists were enjoying their time in the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, when four to six militants opened fire around 14:50 pm. This brought political tension between the two countries- India and Pakistan. Amid this, the already controversial movie Abir Gulaal, which was facing backlash since its announcement for Fawad’s return to the Hindi film industry, has gained limelight again. The recent attack in Pahalagam fueled the controversy more related to the movie and called for a boycott.
Amid the Abir Gulaal row, Fawad Khan shared his heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families on his Instagram stories. He wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrifying incident and we pray for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time.”
Fawad Khan’s Abir Gulaal star Vaani Kapoor also spoke about the attack. While taking to her Instagram stories, she wrote, “Have been numb, at a loss of words since the time I have seen the attack on innocent people in Pahalgam. Gutted. Devastated. My prayers are with the families.”

Earlier, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) opposed Abir Gulaal, stating that any project featuring a Pakistani artist wouldn’t be released in the state. Fawad made his strong presence in earlier Bollywood films such as Kapoor & Sons (2016) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). Since the ban on Pakistani artists in India, following the 2016 Uri attack, the actor has been missing from the Indian silver screens.
Coming back to Abir Gulaal, the film is set to release in theatres on May 9, 2025. The movie features Fawad Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Lisa Haydon, Farida Jalal, Soni Razdan and Ridhi Dogra in key roles. It has been directed by Aarti Bagdi and produced by Vivek Agrawal, Firuzi Khan, Avantika Hari, Rakesh Sippy.
