Golmaal 5 On Cards? The popular franchise known for its comedy genre and ensemble cast is directed by Rohit Shetty. The series has garnered a significant fan following for its humourous storylines, slapstick comedy, and memorable characters. It stars Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and others. The franchise has spawned several sequels, including Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3, and Golmaal Again, all of which have enjoyed commercial success at the box office. Well, now its time for Golmaal 5.
Speculation began after the director hinted at the fifth installment of the Golmaal series in the song 'Aankh Marey' from 'Simmba' in 2018. Recently, Rohit teased fans again about Golmaal 5 being in development. Talking to PinkVilla, the filmmaker said, "Abhi waqt hai. Golmaal series toh banti rahegi. Aisa toh ho nahin sakta ki nahin bane (There is still time. Golmaal series will continue to be made. It's not possible that the film doesn't happen). But it will take time," he said.
Speaking about the universe he has built throughout his career, Rohit Shetty expressed a deep fondness for the same. "It's something I'm very proud of, whether it's the Golmaal series or the cop universe," the director affirmed.
About Golmaal
The series began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006, followed by direct sequels Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010), and Golmaal Again (2017). All four films feature a core cast including Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee, and Mukesh Tiwari, with Shreyas Talpade and Ashwini Kalsekar appearing in three films, and Kareena Kapoor, Kunal Khemu, and Johnny Lever in two. The series also includes a spin-off titled Cirkus, released on December 23, 2022.
Speculations about Kareena Kapoor's potential return for the next installment of the Golmaal franchise have surfaced. These rumours gained traction after the release of the 'Aankh Marey' music video from Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan's film Simmba.
Regarded as one of Bollywood's top screwball comedy franchises, Golmaal now ranks as the ninth-highest-grossing film series in Indian cinema.
