As the clock struck midnight in South Korea, K-pop idol BTS’ Jungkook turned 26. The youngest in the group, Jeon Jungkook has been dubbed as the ‘Golden Maknae’ by the BTS ARMY. As much as BTS’ Jungkook’s popularity allows him to achieve his dreams, the fame often comes with scrutiny by the media. Having a successful career of 10 long years in the industry, Jungkook has often been seen landing in controversies.

However, these controversies come in different shapes, comprising the idol’s behavior or actions. The latest scandal that Jungkook was involved in was the plagiarism controversy regarding his debut album ‘SEVEN.’ On that note, here are five times when BTS’ Jungkook gained fame for the wrong reasons.

Plagiarism Controversy Over ‘SEVEN’

BTS member Jungkook’s debut album ‘SEVEN’ was recently accused of plagiarism by composer Yang Joon-young. The composer alleged that ‘SEVEN’ has borrowed the same scale sequence from Fin.K.L’s ‘Time of Mask.’ Yang Joon-young provided several pieces of evidence to BTS’ agency HYBE, and has requested an investigation into the matter.

False Advertising Complaint

A netizen filed a complaint against the star for false advertising in respect to the clothing line ‘Sic6uys.’ The company, which holds Jungkook’s brother as the CEO and the singer as the stakeholder of the firm. The idol never participated in the company, however he wore a special selection from the brand. Since wearing products from the brand when one is gaining profits and not explicitly mentioned is considered to be illegal. It could’ve easily manipulated the sales, as Jungkook holds a large fan-following globally. However, he later stepped down from his position.

Violating Covid-19 Norms

In 2020, when the pandemic was at peak globally, there were several restrictions and limitations on public gatherings to control the spread of the virus. However, BTS Jungkook was spotted at an Itaewon Club along with his friends from the 97 Liners sparking controversy online. Following the controversy, the idol released a personal apology for the same.

Dating Rumours With Tattoo Artist

This was not necessarily a consequence of Jungkook’s actions, but the singer attracted tons of attention back in 2019. A video of BTS’ Jungkook hugging his tattoo artists was leaked online which soon gained dating rumours between the two. However, Big Hit Entertainment denied the accusations and the tattoo artists also released a formal statement regarding the matter.

Violation of Traffic Law Followed By a Car Accident

In 2019, the singer admitted to a car accident he initiated. The singer was 22-year-old and revealed that while driving through the district of Hannam in Seoul, he came in contact with a taxi and the incident was reported minor with neither of the parties suffering any injuries. The ‘SEVEN’ singer was questioned by the police officer regarding the issue and admitted further violating the traffic laws. His agency soon released a statement expressing an apology.
