Actor Vishal Jethwa has shared his disappointment after his film Homebound failed to secure a spot in the final list at the Oscars. Taking to social media, the actor candidly admitted that the setback left him heartbroken, as the team had high hopes from the project. However, Vishal also reflected on the journey with a sense of pride, stating that reaching the top 15 itself was a significant achievement. He said that while the outcome was not what they had wished for, the experience of competing on such a prestigious global platform and giving their best made the journey truly worthwhile.
Vishal Jethwa wrote on Instagram, "Homebound Oscars. Yes, we couldn't make it to the Oscars nominations, and of course, it broke the hope we carried with us. But I believe failure is not when you fail; it's when you don't try. And the only thing the whole Homebound team did from the very first day was to just TRY."
He further added, "I am proud of the fact that we could make it to the top 15 and am fully satisfied with what we were able to do, having our name associated with the prestigious name called the Oscars. It's more than what I ever imagined, desired, or deserved."
"Will always be grateful to Jogi sir, Neeraj sir, and Karan sir. My love and respect to Ishaan, Janhvi, and my Homebound family. Now sticking to the Guru mantra of life taught by my Guruji, Shoaib Khan sir. Thank you, BHAGWAN," said Vishal.
Following Homebound missing out on the Oscars, Karan Johar and director Neeraj Ghaywan took to social media to publicly appreciate and thank each other. Sharing a collage from the film, Johar said he was proud of the team and praised Ghaywan for his vision. In return, Ghaywan expressed heartfelt gratitude, calling Johar an 'absolute rock' and crediting him for the film’s journey. Homebound stars Vishal Jethwa and Ishaan Khatter in lead roles, with Janhvi Kapoor making a cameo appearance.
