House of the Dragon
House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO. It's a prequel to Game of Thrones and the second series in the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise. Set about 200 years before Game of Thrones and 172 years before Daenerys Targaryen's birth, it is based on Martin's book Fire & Blood. The show starts 100 years after the Targaryen conquest of the Seven Kingdoms and depicts the events leading to the fall of House Targaryen and the war of succession known as the "Dance of the Dragons."
The first season received positive reviews for its character development, visual effects, writing, score by Ramin Djawadi, and performances, but faced criticism for its pacing and dark lighting. The series premiere had over 10 million viewers, making it HBO's biggest debut. House of the Dragon won Best Television Series – Drama at the 80th Golden Globe Awards, and Emma D'Arcy was nominated for Best Actress. The series also earned nine Emmy nominations and won three British Academy Television Craft Awards.
