Rajpal Yadav has recently reacted if Varun Dhawan is ‘depressed’ after the box office failure of the latest release Baby John. The actor stated that Varun is a very hardworking person and his attempts should be appreciated. Yadav also shared his beliefs that if people haven’t watched the original Tamil movie of Thalapathy Vijay’s Theri then Baby John could have been a hit. Well, Rajpal Yadav can be seen playing the role of Constable Ram Sevak, who is a deputy to DCP Satya Verma (played by Varun Dhawan).
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Varun said “If this wasn’t a remake, then this would have been the most well-made film of my 25-year career. But since Vijay had done it, the audience had already seen it and because it was a remake, it affected the box office of the film.”
When asked ‘if’ Varun is ‘depressed’ after Baby John’s box office failure, Rajpal added, “Varun is such a sweet boy, very hardworking. He has always tried to do something different, and his attempts must be appreciated because it’s a big deal to take risks.”
Baby John was released in Christmas 2024. The film is about the life of DCP Satya Verma who moves from one place to another in order to save his daughter. The film features Wamiqa Gabbi, Keerthy Suresh, Sanya Malhotra, Jackie Shroff, Sheeba Chaddha and Zara Zyanna in significant roles. It has been directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee Kumar, Jyoti Deshpande, Murad Khetani and Priya Atlee. It was made on a budget of Rs 150 crore but collected Rs 39.15 crore after 15 days of release.
Jagran English has gave 3.5 stars to Baby John and wrote in its review “If you loved Theri, admire Varun Dhawan, or simply want to enjoy quality time with loved ones at the cinema, Baby John is worth a watch. Now playing in theatres, the film promises to be a wholesome family entertainer and a satisfying one-time watch. However, die-hard Varun Dhawan fans might find themselves returning for another round to witness his stellar performance and action-packed sequences at their finest.”
