EDAM Entertainment, the agency representing South Korean singer IU, has issued an apology and announced reforms following a controversy surrounding ticket sales for IU's 2024 World Tour Seoul Solo Concert. The issue arose when a person who assisted a friend in purchasing a ticket was barred from entering the venue due to "illicit ticket trading." This incident prompted other fans to come forward with similar experiences, sparking a wave of criticism on social media platforms.
In response to the backlash, EDAM Entertainment released a statement expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to fans and the disappointment experienced by IU. The agency acknowledged the need for changes in its ticketing policies and outlined several reforms to prevent such incidents in the future.
One of the key changes announced by EDAM Entertainment is the abolition of the reward policy for illicit ticket trading, also known as the "secret royal inspector policy." The agency has also committed to strengthening its internal monitoring team to detect cases of illicit trading and premium ticket reservations. Additionally, they will simplify the verification process for ticket reservations and ensure that fans do not feel burdened by unspecific verification demands.

Furthermore, EDAM Entertainment has pledged to improve the identity verification process for children and adolescent audiences attending IU's concerts. They will implement measures to allow ticket collection for individuals who find it difficult to verify their identity with an ID card, such as verifying immediate family relationships through a family relationship certificate or a resident registration certificate.
In a bid to address the issue of permanent expulsion from IU's official fan club, the agency has revised its policy. Instead of permanent expulsion, fans will now face penalties, such as membership restrictions by fan club generations. Those who were previously subject to permanent expulsion will have their expulsion lifted, except for individuals who have threatened the artist's personal safety or invaded her privacy.
