Janhvi Kapoor, who is gearing up for her upcoming release Mr and Mrs Mahi, shared a horrific incident from the past. The actress claimed that she was sexualised by the media at the age of 12-13 years. Revealing more details about the same, she stated that her pictures were uploaded on adult websites. She also expressed her difficulties overcoming the situation and stated that her schoolmates used to laugh at her after seeing the pictures. 

During an interaction with the lead actors of Mr and Mrs Mahi on the YouTube channel of Dharma Productions, Karan Johar asked Janhvi about her thoughts on being objectified. She said, “The first time I felt sexualized by the media was when I was 12-13 years old. I attended an event with my mom and dad, and photos of me appeared online. Social media was just starting to gain traction, and I discovered my pictures on what seemed like a pornographic site. Boys at my school were looking at these photos and laughing.”

“It's a very weird thing to navigate, and I've been dealing with it for a long time. I feel very apologetic about where I come from and I need to get over that. I know others deal with this in a different, perhaps more terrifying way. But for me, it was complicated. There's a sort of character assassination that happens when a girl dresses in a way that makes her seem comfortable with her sexuality,” she added.

About Mr and Mrs Mahi

Janhvi Kapoor will be essaying the role of a doctor, who later changes her profession to Cricket after being influenced by her husband (Rajkummar Rao). The movie is all set to release in theatres on 31st May. It also stars Zarina Wahab, Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, Abhishek Banerjee, Purnendu Bhattacharya, Yamini Das, and Abhilash Chaudhary in key roles.
