Tamil actor Jayam Ravi announced his divorce from his wife, Aarti Ravi, after 15 years of marriage and two sons on September 9. Recently, he spoke to Hindustan Times about the separation, addressing rumours surrounding his personal life and future plans. In his statement, Jayam Ravi cited personal reasons for the split, emphasizing that the decision was not made lightly. When asked about Aarti’s claims of wanting to reconcile, he questioned her lack of communication: “If Aarti wanted to reconcile, why has she not reached out to me? Why has she not responded to the two legal notices I sent?” He expressed frustration over the implications of her statements, suggesting that if reconciliation was truly her intention, she would have acted differently.

Jayam also addressed rumours linking him to singer and spiritual healer Kenishaa Francis, clarifying that these allegations are misplaced. He stated, “How did these rumours start? I plan to start a spiritual healing centre with Kenishaa and my divorce has nothing to do with her.” He emphasized the negative impact such speculation can have on everyone involved, including their families.

Regarding the custody of his children, Aarav and Ayaan, Jayam confirmed, “Yes, I want custody of my children. I am ready to fight this divorce out in court for however long it takes. My future is my children; they are my happiness.” He dreams of introducing Aarav to cinema at the right time, recalling a cherished moment from when they worked together on Tik Tik Tik six years ago.

Despite the media's focus on his personal life, Jayam Ravi chose not to comment on blame directed at Aarti or her family, stating, “I have clearly said in my statement that everyone should respect our privacy.” He confirmed that the divorce case is ongoing, with the first court hearing set for October.

Professionally, Jayam Ravi has three completed films: Brother, Genie and Kadhalika Neramilai. He mentioned his intention to be more selective with future projects, stating, “I’m not going to rush and sign films anymore. I’m going to take my time to choose scripts.”
