Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti's Tiger Baby Films announced the making of 'Jee Le Zaraa' with a unique star cast including Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, and Alia Bhatt. The much-anticipated film was announced in 2021 and since then has been ghosted by the makers. Earlier, several reports spiraled online about the film getting shelved, with Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif walking out of the project.
Now, the producer of 'Jee Le Zaraa', Reema Kagti, confirmed the lead star cast to be the same and revealed that the film will go on floors next year. In an interview with PTI, the producer said, "We will start shooting by the end of the year. We are looking forward to it and are really excited. It has been a busy time at (production banner) Tiger Baby. We are also doing some documentary stuff. We are hoping Kho Gaye Hum Kahan will come out soon. There's also a film that Zoya is doing. Supermen of Malegaon is a film for Amazon. Jee Le Zaraa will go on floors with the same cast."
Earlier, there were rumors of Priyanka Chopra walking out of the film because of the delay, followed by Katrina Kaif's exit. According to a report in The Hindustan Times, "Priyanka was not able to commit the dates to shoot in 2023 due to her Hollywood commitments and she asked Farhan if they could shoot for Jee Le Zaraa next year. While Farhan was fine with it, Alia Bhatt is already committed to shooting for Ramayana and Baiju Bawra in 2024, so it didn't work out. It's true and a very unfortunate development that PC will no longer be able to do the film, but there's no bad blood between her and the team."
Recently, Zoya Akhtar also confirmed that the film has not been shelved, but has been delayed. According to a report in India Today, she said, "We're just waiting for the dates." The team in March 2023 was spotted looking out for locations for the same in Rajasthan.
The announcement was made in 2021 with the director of 'Jee Le Zaraa' Farhan Akhtar sharing the announcement teaser online. He wrote, "Did someone say road trip? Thrilled to announce my next film as director and what better day than 20 years of Dil Chahta Hai to do it. #JeeLeZaraa with @priyankachopra @katrinakaif @aliaabhatt will commence filming in 2022 and I cannot wait to get this show on the road."
