After an old comment from an interview went viral, Jim Sarbh addressed the controversy, clarifying that his remarks were not directed at Ranveer Singh. The video in question showed Jim making fun of an unnamed actor who claimed they needed therapy after getting stuck in character. Many assumed he was referring to his Padmaavat co-star, Ranveer Singh. However, Jim took to Instagram to set the record straight.

In his statement, Jim explained that he usually ignores speculative videos and articles, assuming people understand better. However, the wide circulation of this particular video prompted him to respond. He emphasized that he never mentioned Ranveer Singh by name and clarified that his comments were made during the promotions for Made in Heaven Season 2, which came out five years after Padmaavat. Jim also reiterated his positive sentiments towards Ranveer as a co-actor.

In his Instagram note, Jim expressed frustration over the need to clarify his comments. He stated, “Nothing I said refers to Ranveer Singh. The video byte being shared is from Made in Heaven Season 2 promotions, 5 whole years since Padmaavat came out. I only had lovely things to say about Ranveer as a co-actor—look it up. I still do.”

Jim further explained that his comment was not an attack on the acting process but rather a critique of actors who exaggerate their experiences. He said, “I find this almost absurd to have to clarify, but since folks are running wild with the videos and the articles. Nothing I said refers to Ranveer Singh.”

The controversy started when Ranveer Singh had previously shared that portraying Khilji in Padmaavat was so intense that he isolated himself to prepare for the role. In an interview with The Quint, Jim had commented on actors who claim they need therapy after getting stuck in character, saying, “I was like, shut up bro. You didn’t even know your lines on the day, what nonsense.” This led many to believe he was taking a dig at Ranveer.

Recently, Prashant Narayanan also criticized Ranveer’s process, calling it false. However, Nawazuddin Siddiqui came to Ranveer’s defence, arguing that people should try to understand the actor’s process before judging him.

On the professional front, Jim Sarbh is set to make his Tollywood debut with Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera, which stars Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nagarjuna in lead roles.
