John Wick 5: Exciting news for fans of John Wick franchise as actor Keanu Reeves is set to return to his iconic role of a hitman in the upcoming chapter. After years of speculation, John Wick 5 is officially moving forward. Along with Keanu, director Chad Stahelski is also back for the upcoming instalment.
Keanu Reeves Returns for John Wick 5
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, announced the fifth installment in the action film franchise on Tuesday at the CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Lionsgate is developing the movie with Thunder Road producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, franchise director and producer Stahelski and producer-star Reeves, as per Variety.
"Keanu, Chad, Basil and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world. We can’t wait for audiences to see where the journey takes us next," Adam Fogelson said at the event.
Adding more about the upcoming instalment, Iwanyk and Lee said in a joint statement, “It’s so important to get this story right and give John’s story the proper next step. It’s exciting to take the first step on that road.”
The franchise is expanding with an animated prequel film as well as a standalone adventure feature film from director-star Donnie Yen. The projects complement Ana de Armas starrer Ballerina, which is set for release on 6 June.
Ana attended the annual convention for cinema owners in Las Vegas, where she introduced an extended clip from Ballerina. The clip shows her character, Eve Macarro, ballerina training to become an assassin, action packed sequence featuring how she faces off against several adversaries in an abandoned bar.

This adventure franchise debuted in 2014 with Keanu Reeves Reeves starring as the titular hit man who even after gets pulled back into the criminal underworld. John Wick: Chapter 4 was released in 2023 and ended with the death of the titular assassin. It earned USD 440 million at the global box office.
