Johnny Depp has made his comeback to Hollywood following high-profile legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard. He has started filming for his upcoming movie Day Drinker. The makers also shared the first look of the actor on social media, which has already created buzz. The film is being directed by Marc Webb, known for delivering films like 500 Days of Summer and Snow White. This marks the fourth collaboration of Depp with Spanish actress Penélope Cruz after previous works including Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Murder on the Orient Express.
On Monday, Lionsgate surprised Johnny Depp fans by dropping his first look from the upcoming thriller Day Drinker. Soon the post was flooded with comments. One user wrote, "Damn! He looks good with grey hair." Another user commented, "We are beyond excited to see our KING on the big screen!! Also loved him in Jeanne du Barry!!" Some users showed excitement for Depp and Cruz's reunion. A comment read, "Penelope + Johnny = The Movie is cooking really good."

Besides Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz, the movie also stars Madelyn Cline. Day Drinker centres around the story of a private yacht bartender (Cline) who encounters a mysterious, onboard guest (Johnny Depp). Then, they soon get entangled in the dangerous world of crime after they encounter a criminal figure (Penélope Cruz), unfolding surprising connections among them, as per Variety report. The film is being produced by Thunder Road's Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, who are known for their successful John Wick franchise. Adam Kolbrenner joins as a producer alongside Zach Dean, who penned the original screenplay. Day Drinker is executive produced by 30WEST.
This project marks Johnny Depp's first major release since high-profile legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard, where he was accused of domestic violence. In 2018, claims against him were upheld and in 2022 he filed a defamation case against Heard and the case ruled in his favour, stating his ex-wife allegations were false.
