Directed by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan, Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai is the latest addition to movies exploring queer love. The film delves into the sensitive topic of societal acceptance, prejudice, and the personal traumas experienced by same-sex couples in India. The cast includes Lijomol Jose, Rohini Molleti, Vineeth Radhakrishnan, Anusha Prabhu, Kalesh Ramanand, and Deepa Shankar. The story follows Sam (played by Lijomol), who has a deep conversation with her mother, Lakshmi (Rohini Molleti), about her love life. Sam confesses that she has fallen in love, and Lakshmi encourages her to invite the man home for lunch on Sunday. When the day arrives, Lakshmi is shocked to learn that her daughter loves a woman named Nandini (played by Anusha Prabhu). Both Lakshmi and her husband struggle to understand their love and shame them for their sexuality. The story follows Sam and Nandini’s emotional journey as they attempt to explain their sexuality to their family and society, leading to deep emotional conflicts.
