Kajol, who is gearing up for her upcoming Netflix movie Do Patti, shared that her relationship with younger sister Tanishaa Mukerji hit rock bottom once upon a time. This was due to the constant comparison between the stardom of both sisters. Kajol shared that things got sorted out later. Notably, Kajol is 4 years older than Tanishaa. The actress made her acting debut with the 1992 film Bekhudi whereas her younger sister debuted with Sssshhh... in 2003. Despite, doing several films Tanishaa could not rise to fame like her elder sister which led to a comparison with Kajol. But she got immense popularity with her stint in Salman Khan’s show Bigg Boss 7.
In an interview with New 18, Kajol said “I would say that yes, it did happen at some point, definitely. But we sorted it out. It was momentary. It wasn’t something that worked too much against us. Tanishaa is in the movies and is doing films. So, that was there but it’s not there anymore.”
Earlier in an interview with Indian Express, Tanishaa said, “These things don’t bother me. I can’t look at my sister and me and compare. I don’t even compare myself to other actors, why will I compare myself to my sister? Every actor and star has their own journey, that’s what I believe. And yes, my career was not as good as my sister, but she started when she was 16. I got so much privilege because she was in the industry. I thank her career for giving me whatever I needed. At the end of the day, I had a very comfortable career. I didn’t have to work. So from that aspect, I never compare. I think the world loves to keep comparing, I don’t live in that space.”
Coming back to Do Patti, the movie also stars Kajol, Kriti Sanon, Shaheer Sheikh, Tanvi Azmi, Vivek Mushran and Brijendra Kala in key roles. The mystery thriller is set to be released on Netflix on October 25.
