Kalki 2898 AD Box Office Collection Day 5: Nag Ashwin's dystopian science-fiction epic, Kalki 2898 AD, made history on its opening day by registering the highest domestic opening. Released on June 27 in six languages—Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English—the film features stars like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Despite a significant drop from its weekend earnings, the film registered a blockbuster first Monday with a record-breaking performance.

The success of Kalki 2898 AD continues to defy expectations, with the film scoring a record-breaking collection on Monday. The film performed exceptionally well during its first four days at the box office, earning an estimated Rs 309 crore in India net. On its fifth day, the film earned around Rs 34.6 crore India net for all languages, bringing the total to Rs 343.6 crore, according to Sacnilk. The film also achieved an overall 47.18% Telugu occupancy on Monday, July 1, 2024, with morning shows at 30.16%, afternoon shows at 42.27%, evening shows at 57.59%, and night shows at 58.69%.

Kalki 2898 AD became the third biggest opener in Indian cinema, earning a massive Rs 191 crore globally on its first day. However, RRR remains the highest Indian opener with Rs 223 crore, followed by Baahubali 2, which grossed over Rs 217 crore on its opening day.

Meanwhile, according to the film's team, the multilingual 3D spectacle Kalki 2898 AD has entered the Rs 600 crore club within five days of its global release, showcasing its impressive worldwide box office collection.

Reportedly budgeted at Rs 600 crores, the film stands as one of the most expensive Indian productions ever made.

Touted as a blend of the Hindu epic Mahabharata and science fiction, the big-budget film Kalki 2898 AD is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and directed by Nag Ashwin, known for his critically acclaimed 2018 period drama "Mahanati." Inspired by Hindu mythology, this first installment in the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD.

The plot revolves around a select few on a mission to save the unborn child, Kalki, of SUM-80, a lab subject. Prabhas and Deepika Padukone play the characters Bhairava and Sumati, respectively, while Amitabh Bachchan portrays Ashwatthama. Kamal Haasan stars as the main villain Yaskin and is expected to have a more extensive role in the film's sequel. The film also features Disha Patani in a key role.
