Kalki 2898 AD: As the highly anticipated sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD gears up for its release on June 27, fans are being treated to a deeper look into its world through a new trailer. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie promises a gripping narrative set in a futuristic world.
The latest trailer sheds light on the central premise of the film, confirming that Deepika Padukone's character is carrying the Kalki avatar. In a poignant scene, Amitabh Bachchan's character remarks, "God resides in your womb," hinting at the divine nature of her pregnancy. However, the path to protect her and her unborn child is fraught with danger, as Prabhas' character stands in their way, leading to an intense confrontation between the two stars.
Adding to the intrigue, the trailer introduces new characters and elements of the film's world. Kamal Haasan's character, portrayed as a sage, reflects on the unchanging nature of man, despite the evolution of society. Meanwhile, Prabhas is showcased in a new robotic suit, highlighting his readiness to take on challenges in his quest.
The pre-release event for Kalki 2898 AD was recently held in Mumbai, adding to the excitement. Rana Daggubati hosted the event, which saw the presence of stars like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan. Deepika, stunning in a black dress, lightened the mood with her humour, joking about her pregnant belly being a result of Prabhas' food.

Director Nag Ashwin shared insights into the film's world, which is divided into three distinct realms: Kasi, Complex, and Shambala. While Kasi struggles with dry conditions and limited resources, Complex appears as a utopia with ample provisions, but with hidden agendas. Shambala, described as a mystical refuge, is home to rebels and refugees fighting against the Complex's tyranny.

Kalki 2898 AD marks Nag Ashwin's third directorial venture, following the critically acclaimed Yevade Subramanyam and the biographical drama Mahanati. The film boasts a stellar cast, with Prabhas portraying the role of a bounty hunter named Bhairava, Keerthy Suresh lending her voice to his AI droid sidekick Bujji, Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of Aswatthama and Deepika Padukone as Sumati, a pregnant woman on the run. Kamal Haasan takes on the role of the formidable antagonist, the Supreme Yaskin.
