Kanguva, an epic fantasy action film directed by Siva, is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language movie produced by Studio Green and UV Creations. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Suriya in dual roles, alongside notable actors such as Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam, K. S. Ravikumar, Yogi Babu, and several others.
Marking the Tamil debut of Bobby Deol and Disha Patani, Kanguva weaves a captivating narrative that seamlessly bridges two timelines. The story follows Francis Theodore, a bounty hunter in 2024, whose life becomes mysteriously intertwined with that of a fierce tribal warrior who made a promise to a child in the year 1070.
The film, initially announced in April 2019 under the working title Suriya 39, was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India and scheduling conflicts. However, the project was revived in August 2022, with the tentative title Suriya 42. Principal photography commenced the same month and spanned seventeen months, concluding in January 2024. The film's production team scouted various locations across India, including Chennai, Goa, Kerala, Kodaikanal, and Rajahmundry.
The film boasts a talented crew, with Devi Sri Prasad composing the music, Vetri Palanisamy handling cinematography, and Nishadh Yusuf overseeing editing. Notably, the film's budget is estimated to be around ₹300-350 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced.
